My name is Carleigh and this is my first blog! Also this is my first year as a Generation Free Youth Advisory Board member, but before we get into why I decided to become YAB member let me tell you a little bit about myself. I am 14 years old and a freshman at Lawrence County High School (Go Cougars!) in Monticello.
I love barrel racing and pole bending , and I have two Quarter Horses. And then to conclude my little zoo I have a chihuahua. In my free time, which doesn’t come by very often between school, horses, and YAB I like to hang out with friends. I am also on the youth board for my local Tobacco Free Coalition, and a FFA member (hopefully officer soon).
So now that you know a little bit about me let’s talk about why I decided to join YAB. I decided to become apart of this mainly because so many of my family members now have smoking related diseases. Like my grandmother, she has COPD, asthma, etc. If it’s related to smoking she probably has it. Also my other grandmother was just diagnosed with stage four throat cancer because of smoking.
Now this will probably sound crazy but these are all good and bad things, because yeah there bad because my grandmother’s are both sick from smoking. Buy also it motivated me join this board along with some other pretty great people to help prevent someone else or someone elses family from being harmed by tobacco. So yeah this is me. Hopefully you enjoyed reading!
