The Partnership for a Healthy Mississippi would like to invite you to FREE FEST! FREE FEST is a regional, youth-led, youth tobacco prevention conference designed to educate, empower and develop youth leaders and advocates helping to combat the dangers of tobacco and nicotine. The conferences will take place on Wednesday, October 23rd in Biloxi, MS at the MS Coast Coliseum and Convention Center; on Thursday, October 25th in Jackson, MS at the MS Civil Rights Museum; and on Wednesday, October 30th in Oxford, MS at the Oxford Conference Center.

Students will hear from the 2016 Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids National Youth Advocate of the Year and Mississippi native, Bryce Moore, and the Generation FREE™ Youth Advisory Board. The symposium sessions will focus on electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) and help youth identify and expose the deceptive marketing tactics of tobacco and e-cigarette companies in their communities. Students will also learn about the importance of smoke-free policies and ordinances in their schools and communities, and gain valuable skills in communicating with school administrators and policy makers to advocate for healthy policies.

During the conference, there will be highlights to celebrate the efforts of the Generation FREE Teams and Youth Advocacy Teams from the state, which are leading the fight against big tobacco. The conference aims to empower the next wave of youth leaders and advocates to do all they can to continue the fight for smoke-free air and tobacco policies right here, in Mississippi. Come and join us at one of our three conferences. We look forward to seeing you at FREE FEST!!

Check-in for FREE FEST at each location will be from 9:00 – 9:30 a.m. The Conference will run until 1:00 p.m. and lunch will be provided. We request that you and your students stay the entire length of FREE FEST due to the interactive and participatory nature of the conference sessions.

Ready to Take the Pledge?

As part of the Generation FREE movement, it is my responsibility to help my peers understand how they can reach their goals and realize their dreams. I know that tobacco kills nearly 4,700 people in Mississippi every single year, and the tobacco industry wants young people like me to replace all of the people who die from using their products every year. That's why I pledge to be tobacco free and help my peers and others in my community understand the dangers of all tobacco products.
